What My Husband Recently Read

With Father's Day right around the corner, I thought I
would share with you the last three books that my husband read. I know that my husband loves to receive new books as gifts. Maybe your husband might enjoy these, as well.

All three of these books were recommended to my husband.
He loved each one of them. They are different in style and content, yet they all spoke to him and he highly recommends them, as well.

Here is a picture of each of them:

The Noticer: Sometimes, all a person needs is a little perspective
The Noticer really helped him with his perspective. It encouraged him to have a new perspective on life and in his relationships. The "Noticer", also called Jones in the book, meets different people in various seasons of life, helps them gain a new perspective, and brings a new value of their situation.

In Harm's Way: The Sinking of the U.S.S. Indianapolis and the Extraordinary Story of Its Survivors
This is the true story of a WWII U.S. ship that was sunk by a Japanese submarine. Through numerous misunderstanding and oversights the survivors were left in the ocean for over five days. Two-thirds of the sailors died-many of them from shark attacks. He was challenged to not make assumptions; because the numerous authorities that could have saved the shipwrecked sailors assumed everything was fine. If one person would have double-checked the safety of the ship, hundreds of men would have lived.

Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting out of the Box
This book challenged him to be honest with himself and with others. It immediately brought to mind a promise he made to our daughter to buy her a nightlight. He couldn't even finish the first chapter without putting it down to fulfill his promise to her. It changed his life! He said this book is excellent for those that want to have good relationships and make a positive impact in others' lives.

What are some of your husband's favorite books? Any books you can recommend to me as a gift for my husband?

  1. Unfortunately my husband doesn't read much, but my dad does!
Last Father's day I gave him a book called "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. He really enjoyed it. I had read it earlier and loved it too.
I highly recommend it, it's a great true story of redemption and forgiveness during World War II.

  2. Oh thanks for the tips! I'm always looking for a book my husband might enjoy - somehow I tend to find ones I like instead... This could be a nice step in finding a good summer read for him, not me for once.

  3. Mine reads a lot of business books so I know he'd like that third one. He also likes war history so I'm going to look for that second one as well. Thanks for sharing!
